Areas of Practice
LOSING WEIGHT (AND KEEPING IT OFF)
There are many variables that can affect weight: diet, hydration, alcohol intake, food choices and preparation, physical activity, sleeping patterns and your body's unique metabolism. Whether you want to make a complete lifestyle transformation, are looking to shed a few pounds as part of a wedding weight-loss plan, or keeping weight off while traveling, dining out, or even maintaining a steady weight, we can work together to identify factors and choices affecting your weight, and set realistic goals to keep you on track. We offer on-demand, "in the moment" advice via text..
MANAGING CHRONIC DISEASE AND HEALTH CONDITIONS
People are often confused by the constantly changing recommendations and diet fads about what food is good or bad for a specific medical condition. What may be even worse is that following the wrong path can increase risk. We prescribe medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to help people with chronic diseases, such as managing spikes in blood sugar, reducing acid reflux, resolving digestive disorders, or even reversing obesity and associated co-morbidities. As a registered dietitian I can maintain live communication with your physician on your nutrition Rx and progress.
CHANGING THE HOME ENVIRONMENT
Have you ever wondered why you aren't succeeding despite "knowing" what to do? Maybe you've read every piece of nutrition news that Google can deliver and still don't have the results you are aiming for. The problem might not be how much you know...it might be what's around you. Good nutrition starts with smart choices in the grocery store (cooking up healthy meals is a challenge if you don't have the right ingredients in your kitchen!). We can take a trip to the grocery store together to become supermarket savvy, stock your home with better food choices, learn how to read nutrition food labels, meal planning for the week, preparing snacks and much more.
IMPROVING ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE
Athletic performance pushes your body to the edge. As you continue to train and stress you body, metabolic waste accumulates. Having an adequate macronutrient and hydration plan will set you up to maintain and improve your sport -- packages are available to help guide nutrition needs for endurance, speed and strength-based athletes.
menu planning and healthy eating
One of the hardest parts of sticking to a weight loss plan is meal prepping, not to mention figuring out how much is too much when it comes to portion sizes.
The internet, social media, and technology often make things harder and more complex, especially when it comes to healthy eating. And in today’s fast-paced, future shock, “diet culture” world, things like stress, too much sugar, a diet low in dietary fiber, excessive drinking, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) use, and food sensitivities can all cause an autoimmune response in the body, including inflammatory and allergic reactions, such as respiratory and digestive issues, headaches, joint pain, skin conditions, and more.
We help you stay two steps ahead of these fluctuating, almost daily (if not hourly) challenges with menu planning that can support you in healthy eating, lifestyle changes and managing illness.
