FOOD AND YOUR LIFE STAGES

Food and Your Life Stages

Our nutritional needs change with different stages of life.  For you and your family to be fit and healthy, it is important to consider the different demands placed on the body.  A developing infant and adolescent have quite different requirements, palates and energy needs than young adults, where body image and physical activity are usually at the forefront of daily life; men and women in their reproductive years often change their dietary patterns and lifestyle habits quite dramatically to improve fertility and plan a family.

As people enter their 40s-5os, the health problems that will be around for the rest of an adult's life become apparent, including issues with weight gain, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.  Later in life, the loss of lean body mass, decrease in gastric motility and slower metabolism require dietary adjustments in order to thrive. When medications are introduced, side effects can lead to new problems, such as changes in appetite, taste and smell, that now need to be addressed.

Blueprint Nutrition works with people throughout these life stages to adopt a good nutritional plan, and stick with it.  Even if past nutrition and lifestyle choices were not aligned with dietary guidelines, it is never too late to improve health through nutrition.
